Bogus Oasis Shirts Go To Charity

Hundreds of unofficial Oasis T-shirts which were sold outside the band's Manchester gigs are being donated to an international aid project.

Trading standards officers at the city council seized more than 1,300 counterfeit tops from illegal traders during the three gigs this month.

The council said they are being sent to International Aid Trust charity.

The charity removes logos before sending them to needy people in Eastern Europe, Africa and India.

A further 654 counterfeit posters will also be recycled.

The city council's trading standards officers have seized more than 56,000 counterfeit items since April, with many recycled.

CDS and DVDs are wiped and re-used and bottles with counterfeit vodka are recycled.

The Oasis concerts were the biggest events at Heaton Park since the Pope's visit in 1982.
